Patna Industrialist Gopal Khemka's Murder: SIT Formed, Police Investigating All Angles

National News: The brutal murder of Patna’s renowned industrialist Gopal Khemka has sent shockwaves across Bihar. In response, the Bihar Police has intensified its investigation. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar announced that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the high-profile case in depth. Additionally, the Bihar STF and a technical investigation unit have also been roped in.

According to the DGP, the police have obtained several crucial technical and forensic leads, which are now forming the foundation of the ongoing investigation. He added that every possible angle is being thoroughly examined—including personal enmity, business rivalry, and internal family disputes.

Allegations of Delay: DGP Responds

When asked about the delay in police response, DGP Vinay Kumar strongly refuted such claims. He stated that the firing incident occurred around 11:40 PM on Friday. Immediately after the shooting, Khemka's family rushed him to a private hospital in Patna's Kankarbagh locality, which took approximately 30–35 minutes.

It was the hospital administration that first informed the Kankarbagh police station. Recognizing the gravity of the incident, the Kankarbagh police then passed on the information to the Gandhi Maidan police station, which had jurisdiction over the crime scene. The DGP clarified that the police received official information around 12:30 AM, and within just ten minutes, a team had reached the site. "There was absolutely no delay in the police action," he affirmed.

Beur Jail Also Under Scanner

Expanding the scope of investigation, police have also conducted interrogations inside Beur Jail, questioning several suspects who might have connections to the case. The DGP emphasized that the investigation is not limited to a single theory but is progressing with an open mind, covering all potential motives and links.

Security Provided to Khemka’s Son

Following the murder, Bihar Police has extended personal security to Gopal Khemka’s son. Two armed personnel have been deployed for his round-the-clock protection. It is notable that Gopal Khemka had earlier availed paid personal security from the police, which he had voluntarily discontinued in April 2024. Since then, he had not requested additional security.

This high-profile murder has sparked concerns over Bihar’s law and order situation. However, the police maintain that they are fully committed to uncovering the truth. DGP Vinay Kumar assured the public that the culprits will soon be identified and brought to justice.
